Cities So Equitable

September 9, 2021

October 23, 2021

A three-part event envisioning the future of cities!

Cities So Equitable celebrates UN Women’s Equiterra - the first “country” that has achieved gender equality.

Join us to engage with experts, leaders, and community voices driving substantive change to make gender equality a reality. You will walk away with specific action steps to create an intersectional and gender-responsive Los Angeles for all!

To date, no country in the world has achieved gender equality.

Let’s come together to innovate an equitable future!

Presented by UN Women USA Los Angeles Chapter in celebration of its 2021 Annual Assembly.

Cities So Forward

The city of the future runs on a Caring Economy whereby women and men have equal opportunities to participate in the workforce, and livable wages are enjoyed by all. In this economy, childcare and eldercare are recognized as critical parts of the city’s infrastructure.

Leaders, experts, and activists from the business, public, and nonprofit sectors will join us to workshop this city and discuss best practices to enable gender-based budgeting and address the structural barriers preventing women and girls from accessing critical programs and services.

About Equiterra

January 1, 2050, Equiterra, CA – Decades-long policies and general budgets have set the foundation to achieve gender equality in the City of Equiterra. The participatory decision-making processes placed by City Council, businesses, foundations, academia, and nonprofits ensured gender equality and racial equity for constituents, staff, beneficiaries, and clients.

Since 2021, some words and concepts have started to lose their meaning, such as stereotypes and gender-based violence. In contrast, gender mainstreaming and social connection have guided public policy, urban planning, education, and the economy, among holistic/broader policies to promote community health. Remarkably, in Equiterra, everyone is valued equally regardless of their gender.

In this city, gender equality is real.

In alignment with UN Women's Equiterra, where all people have equal rights and opportunities regardless of their gender.
